Electric Guitar

If you want to play electric-based songs, you can really only do it on an electric guitar. Although everything is laid out as it is on an acoustic or classical, you will soon discover there is a world of difference between each - how songs and notes are played differs greatly and there are many techniques that you won't find in other styles. Scales and fretboard knowledge is, in general, far more critical to learning electric. Fortunately, there are only as handful that you need to know, and you'll find so many famous riffs and solos are based on the same scale patterns. And the same can be said for chords - learning how the basic shapes work will open up the entire fretboard. Here are some of the areas covered:

• Learn how power chords, barre chords & chord shapes work along the fretboard• Theory behind chord and solo/ phrase structure in different styles• Strumming, timing & alternate rhythm patterns• Styled covered include Blues, Indie, Rock, Alternative• Learn all about different amps, pickups and pedal-based effects• Introduction & theory behind different genres (Rock, Jazz and Blues)• Lead improvisation & techniques (hammer-ons, pull-offs, note bending etc.)• Improvisation tricks & theory• Open Tuning - chords, scales & well-known pieces• Slide/ Lap-steel techniques• Combing tablature & music notation (without having to read music notation!)• Songwriting theory & techniques• Advanced strumming, finger picking & combination rhythm styles• Maintaining & caring for your instrument
